The Mists Closing In

 The Mists Closing In

As the mists start to close in over the Fairelands once more, another successful Fantasy Faire comes to a close.  Memories made, friends made, old and new, Entertainment and dancing until we dropped.  All these things and more will have to make do until next year.  Fun, frolics, DJ's, Lit Fests, Books read, Authors and quotes. Fab Poems written and read by Sidhe, all to be enjoyed until we meet again next year to do it all again.  The fabulous world Builders are breathing a breath of a job very well done.

As the next few weeks fly by, we may, if we are lucky, catch something in the corner of our eye, a fairy, a puff of coloured dust from Holi, something that reminds you of the flowers from the Wraithwoods or a cave that transports you back to the Yuum Baalal Grotto, Our memories remain, in our heads, in our photographs, in Blogs and on Flickr.  Remember us.  Remember the great times, the fabulous people we saw, met, friended, forgot to friend but will catch up with at some point and do just that.  Do not forget to carry on keeping on because RFL will not.  With events across the Grid to come, keep donating and one day the Un Weaver will not be able to do his doings and we will still Faire on because celebrating life, love and our friends and family who have left us or remain and survive is what we do best.

Thank you one and all for being here with us, for taking part, for loving the Faire as we do, for being a Fairelander through and through.

 Carving Her Name Into The Stone.

She was wanting to leave her mark on the Fairelands, not just happy with setting her candle on a boat on the water in The Fairelands Junction, she carved her name into the Myrtle Stone in the middle of the ring of cats, Her home from Home - Firstly being in the Fairelands, secondly within a ring of cats. She feels free and happy once she places her special sigil, giving her true name to the Fairelands.  A name she does not relinquish lightly to anyone, most of the folk who knew her true name are long gone. For them, she lit the candle in remembrance.

This name was chosen to give honor to a tradition that women from all over the world gather together to take part in. While I myself do not take part in this tradition as a descendant of European colonizers, I recognize the importance of the study of the Codex Borgia and the healing that takes place during the Moon Dance. Praying for our fellow man, honouring and being at one with nature and with the universe, healing and cleansing oppression, and amplifying femininity are all things I respect and take part in in my own way and want to encourage others to do as well. I hope to shed what little ignorant light on this incredible tradition as I can, and to hearten others to ask and seek the answers to the hard questions about why this ceremony must take place. Anubis the Great (Dinkie) was more interested in drinking out of the perpetual fountain of milk than dealing with his duties as Judging Souls in the Kitteh Halls of Truth. Where, to be honest, every kitteh went through with flying colours, it was the symbolism of the rite more than the act, because as we all know, Cats are all purrfect!  This little Jackal is always more cat than Jackal and loves himself a milk feast; he found such a thing in an odd little place called Scrunkle Gulch, of all places!  He plans to stay here, hidden in the fountain and bathing in the milk to keep himself happy.

As she sits, hovering in the air, fully adorned with her spikes out on full show, her staff at her back and her claws ready to deal with anyone wanting to get to the stores at the Fantasy Faire before her, she ponders where to begin, Here, There, or Where?  Mentally debating the voices in her head rage between her favourites and new stores she has yet to discover as she lets the voices argue in her head, used to them as she is she ponders and watches the creatures below as they dash about spending hard earned Lindens and stopping at the Kiosks to share some love, Unused to this as she is she knows she will spend more on the Relay For Life items and Kiosks than anything else, as she is wont to do at this time of year!

Tonight, Huw of The Black Dog Chronicles (HuwTreforCarr), from The Black Dog Chronicles, is reading Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven and other dark and delicious tales.......truly delightful!  The Tell Tale Heart with Lenore, then the Mask of the Red Death, then as we ran over with one last short poem, The Conqueror Worm ~ all read perfectly, giving chills and shivers to the full audience with standing room only here at the Lit Fest Library - There are so many more fabulous Authors and readers to follow this week and until the 6th of May - yes an extension of 2 days thanks to Patch Linden.
